Before the Sale
Since Georgetown Commons is a gated community, the Homeowners Association Board of Directors must receive a written request from the homeowner (or the homeowners’ heirs) at least three weeks in advance of a planned estate sale. This enables the Board to notify all residents in advance that gates will stand open during sale dates and times.
The request must include the following:
- Proposed days, dates and times for the sale
- Name of the company in charge of the sale (if applicable)
- Cell phone numbers and email addresses for communicating with the Board before and during the sale
The Board will review the request at its regularly scheduled meeting the third Wednesday of each month, and the resident (or heirs) will be notified right away of approval.
During the Sale
The Director of Gates and Security will set both the entry and exit south gates open during the hours of the sale. Careful wording and placement of signs will help prevent the public from following residents through the locked gates outside of sale dates and times.
Signs outside the gate must list dates and times of the sale, and must be removed at the end of each sale day.
The sale manager must display signage near the sale with the following messages:
- Do not block driveways
- Do not park in the middle of cul-de-sacs
- Do not park in front of mailboxes
After the Sale
Sale managers may not leave trash out in the street. Trash pickup happens Thursdays, and trash may be put out after 6 a.m. ONLY on those mornings.
